TeleVoce "Teaches Old Phones New Tricks" with New TeleVoce-Connected VoIP Technology Platform

San Jose, CA December 12, 2005

TeleVoceTM, an Internet telephony command and control technology provider, today announced the availability of its new TeleVoce-ConnectedTM PC-based voice communications platform. TeleVoce delivers command and control to end users of PC-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services by leveraging the PC’s power with TeleVoce’s Internet telephony-bridging technology. TeleVoce’s patented hardware and software provide the best of both worlds—the ability to connect the PC, now the end user’s virtual “telco central office,” with the functionality of Internet-based phone services. This provides freedom of choice of both VoIP service provider and advanced telephony capabilities.

TeleVoce provides desktop command and control technology for consumers and small office/home office (SOHO) users of Internet telephony. TeleVoce-Connected products are cost-effective with high functionality and can support a wide range of Internet telephony service providers. Because of TeleVoce’s unique technology platform, TeleVoce-Connected products can be easily feature-enhanced through downloadable software upgrades available from TeleVoce and its OEM/ODM partners.

Ed Prentice, president and CEO of TeleVoce said, “The TeleVoce-Connected paradigm, of ‘teaching old phones new tricks,’TM opens up the world of VoIP to regular phone users worldwide. PC users with broadband access and a TeleVoce-Connected phone adapter can accept and make VoIP calls on existing cordless and cell phones. TeleVoce, with its low-cost interface and powerful software platform, has greatly expanded the power of the VoIP telephone user and freed the PC-connected VoIP user from the tyranny of the headset. Our upgradeable VoIP technology allows OEMs and ODMs to design better VoIP products that users can then enhance with web downloadable upgrades and product feature enhancements available from TeleVoce and its partners.”

The TeleVoce-Connected VoIP Technology Platform

TeleVoce-Connected devices uniquely bridge the Internet with the PSTN allowing unprecedented VoIP application flexibility. Marrying VoIP with the ordinary telephone system, TeleVoce achieves a synergy of functions and applications that cannot be implemented in either VoIP or the PSTN separately. The TeleVoce-Connected platform, in its simplest form, consists of a hardware adapter that provides a connection to a regular phone and to the PSTN (public-switched telephone network). The second component is comprised of proprietary TeleVoce software that intercepts the audio stream and uses it to provide command and control functions both to the PSTN and the Internet. In effect, TeleVoce-Connected gives the end-user central office phone control on the desktop. For example, a voice call coming in over the Internet can be re-routed via the user’s PC to the user’s cell phone. In addition, enhanced VoIP and telephone functions are available through software downloads from TeleVoce and its partners; opening a new world of applications. Software-upgradeable TeleVoce-Connected devices are VoIP service-provider “agnostic”, offering users outstanding flexibility and freedom of choice.

Availability

TeleVoce licenses the TeleVoce-Connected platform to OEMs, ODMs and third party application developers. TeleVoce-Connected reference designs are currently available from TeleVoce. TeleVoce-Connected devices, including phone adapters in a range of prices and functionality, are available from TeleVoce’s partners in the US, Asia and Europe.
